Bangladesh quota protests: Most of the protesters are students

Most of the violent protests taking place in Bangladesh over reservation are students, who are protesting fiercely over reservation in jobs. The police there fired tear gas shells to stop the violent protests. All the students are protesting vigorously from the capital Dhaka to other cities. Their only demand is that they should be given reservation in jobs. They said that the reservation system should be implemented for the relatives of the war heroes who fought for Bangladesh, which got independence from Pakistan in 1971.

On Thursday, protesters set the country’s state broadcaster on fire, after which the protest took a terrible turn. Due to the violence, the authorities had to shut down the metro rail inside the capital and the train services to and from Dhaka. The government has also ordered the shutdown of mobile internet networks in many parts of the country. Schools and universities have been closed indefinitely.
